Welcome to the blog home of the Oakland Athletics on the Fanball blog network. My name is Larry Yocum and I will be your correspondent for the coverage of the Oakland A’s moving forward.
I only have a brief moment right now for introductions and I will preview the coming weekend series later in the day. I am an associate editor at Fanball and I have been working for them the last two years covering the NBA. I am also the author and correspondent for www.kingskingdom.com and cover the Sacramento Kings on the Blog Network. I was born and raised in Northern California and I’m an obsessive sports fan. I’ll attend any baseball game where I can get tickets and I miss the good ol’ days when it was believed that the Bash Brothers were clean, Rickey Henderson was running wild, Dave Stewart was winning twenty games, but was denied the Cy by teammates Dennis Eckersley and Bob Welch and Tony LaRussa was calling the shots. It was a simpler time (pre PED allegations) and those were my A’s growing up. The Coliseum used to be a beautiful place to catch a game before Mount Davis was erected. Sorry Raiders Nation, you know it’s true. When the opportunity to cover the A’s on a regular basis came up, I thought it would be a great chance to get in touch with my baseball roots and follow the team closely again.
I am also chomping at the bit to cover baseball again. I wrote for a website called Baseball Guys last season, but the blog was incorporated into the Fanball network and became a solo gig for Ray Flowers. Ray is one of our leading writers at Fanball and does great work. Check out his stuff at www.baseballguys.com. I covered rookies and prospects last season and have a fairly extensive baseball background that I will bring to the table on a regular basis for The Money Ball Blog. I’m also about thirty-five minutes away from the Sacramento Rivercats and regularly attend games, so I will be bringing in some Triple-A flair from time to time as part of my coverage. Thank you for reading and check back here regularly for all of your Oakland Athletics information.
